One Year

It's 3 minutes 'til midnight.  I won't get this posted by then.  So that means I can retire in 364 days.

You kids get off my lawn.

53 Weeks

It's Sunday.  (For another 58 minutes.)  I usually blog on Friday, but it is now 53 weeks until my planned retirement date.  That's 371 days.  I have a running timer that says it's 370 days.  Neither one sounds right to me.

I actually have quite a few things that I think are interesting that I could blog about.  Some of them I can't, yet, and others I'm pretty sure you don't want to hear.  I've spent two months trying to fix a problem with my septic tank.  (I told you you didn't want to hear it.)  I think I won the fight today.  I located the clog yesterday..., the hard way.  Let me just say:  root; axe; swing and a miss.  And up through the ground come a'bubb'lin' crude.  'Tweren't oil, unfortunately, but believe me it was crude.

On a more pleasant note, for those of you who don't live in Louisiana, we are now in the season we call Carnival.  Y'all may call it Mardi Gras, but that's just the last day of it.  I have a know-it-all friend in Texas, who doesn't know the difference between grilling and barbecuing, who'll argue with me that it's not, but he's wrong a lot.

Anyway, Mardi Gras is March 4th this year.  So, since I'll probably only blog a couple more times before then (and to spare you pictures of the madness that is my side yard) here is the picture I'm currently using on my Facebook page.  (I used to live just off the left edge of this picture, so ....)
